    Stanley Furniture
Since 1924, the goal of the Stanley Furniture Company has been to manufacture high quality furniture at a price the average American family could afford. To accomplish this goal, founder Thomas Bahnson Stanley surrounded himself with the finest furniture craftsmen and instilled in them a sense of pride in building superb quality into every piece of Stanley Furniture. Today, that pride is shared by more than 1,750 dedicated associates who have made Stanley Furniture one of the largest, most respected furniture manufacturers in the nation.

    The Story
When they name a town after you, it's clear you're doing something right. That's true for Thomas B. Stanley, who in 1924 traded a life as a dairy farmer for one of making finely crafted furniture. He started by hand-picking lumber from the northeast and having it shipped to what would become known as Stanleytown, Virginia.

Tradition You Can Put Your Hands On
Thomas the furniture maker established long ago that in order to stand out he had to offer something special. It was true 88 years ago, and it's true today. It starts with the materials, which are hand-crafted from fine quality woods. The Stanley Furniture construction phase takes into account that fine furniture is more than just a pretty face. It's a work of art and its engineering is evident right down to its core. And the finish, Finishes not only add color, but protect, seal and enhance the surface of your furniture. Stanley uses a 30-step finishing process. And if you want to know what those 30 steps are, you'll find them on the company's website.

    Building A Furniture Collection
Every room in your house can be furnished in Stanley Furniture. Bedroom, dining room, home office, accent pieces, home entertainment room. Stanley builds it all with quality and markets it for affordability. From contemporary and cottage to traditional and transitional, Stanley Furniture offers it all. More On Stanley's Collections
The Stanley Furniture collections are each special and distinct. Take the Hudson Street collection. Vibrant and metropolitan, with a self-assured elegance, Hudson Street captures classic American culture. We're talking dark espresso and warm cocoa finishes here, with light distressing accentuate the striking walnut veneer and maple solids. Yum! Or how about the Avalon Heights collection? Rich with intent, the cornerstone of Avalon Heights is the clean, yet graceful lines that subtly inform every piece. There's nothing cold or hard or over-the-top here. The culmination is a look that is warm and smart, representing your world, today.

So, What Ever Happened To Thomas?
After building an extremely successful furniture business, Thomas Stanley ran for and was elected governor of Virginia, where he served from 1954 to 1958. We're guessing his governor's mansion featured nothing but the best Virginia-made furniture!
